In one sentence

Mayor turns the mechanics of French tarot into a municipal election: a trick-taking card game for iPhone and iPad, first printed in 2017.

In one paragraph

Mayor keeps the frame of French tarot (78 cards, suits to follow, trumps to cut with, a reserve at 3, 4 or 5 players), but you do not play a contract: you run for mayor. The candidate secretly calls an ally, and their team must reach a card or vote threshold before the 18 tricks are over, while three Special cards attack the other team's pile. The 2017 printed game (rules by Hector Balusart, design by Edgar Bak Studio) became an app true to the cards and to both rule sets of the rule book, playable offline against three computer opponents or online with friends.

What sets it apart

  • The 78 cards and both rule sets of the rule book: the basic game, where you count cards, and the advanced game, where you count votes.
  • Offline against three computer opponents, or online with friends.
  • A guided first game that teaches the rules as you play.
  • Every game grows your town, from village to megalopolis.
  • No ads and no in-app purchases; an account only to play online.
  • In French, English, Spanish and Chinese.
