Mayor
Privacy
Offline, Mayor needs no account. Saved games, preferences, lessons, game history, statistics and progression stay in the app's local database on the device.
To play online with friends and find your town on all your devices, you need an account: on iPhone and iPad, your Game Center player, or an Apple or Google account; elsewhere, a Google account. Mayor then receives an account identifier (Firebase Authentication, Google): with Game Center, your player identifier and its nickname, which becomes your pseudonym in Mayor until you choose another; with Apple, no name or email address; with Google, your Google email address.
Our server (Google Cloud, Belgium) then keeps your pseudonym, your mayor and coat of arms and what you have unlocked for them, your bio, your rank, your table cloth, your rating and number of ranked games, your device's country code for the national leaderboard, your game history (date and time zone, mode, difficulty, role, result, scores, tricks, duration), your friends and friend requests with their date, the players you blocked or who blocked you, and your player code. The moves of an online game stay there only while the game lasts. Your online presence and invitations are only held in memory, never stored: an invitation expires after 10 minutes, and everything is forgotten when the server stops. The server's technical logs (time, IP address, start of your identifier) are erased after 30 days.
At the table, other players see your pseudonym and your player code. With that code, any signed-in player sees your pseudonym, your mayor, your rank, your bio and, from 5 ranked games, your rating; your friends also see whether you are online. If you appear in it, the leaderboard also shows your country and your number of ranked games.
If you report a player, the server keeps your report (reason, details, table, date) with what that player showed at the time (pseudonym, bio, mayor); only the moderator reads it, and it stays until your account or theirs is deleted. A player reported by 3 players is hidden (a default name, no bio) until the moderator has read the reports. When you block a player, your friendship ends: neither of you sees the other online any more, nor can send the other a friend request or sit at the other's table. A filter refuses insults in pseudonyms and bios, on the device and on the server. Your acceptance of the community rules stays on the device.
On iPhone and iPad, Game Center gathers the players of online games (your invitations, or players it finds for you); if you are signed in to it, the app also sends it your career, your rating, your titles and your game scores, under Apple's privacy rules. Game Center can be turned off in the device's Settings.
Mayor includes no advertising, analytics or crash reporting, and nothing is sold. The app does not request location, contacts, camera or microphone access.
You can delete your account, and everything the server keeps (you also disappear from your friends' lists, and your blocks and reports, made or received, are erased), in Settings → My account. Without the app, ask for the deletion by email at contact@mayorthegame.com, from your account's address or giving your pseudonym: the account and everything attached to it are erased within 30 days. Local data can be erased from the app's privacy screen, or by uninstalling it.
